That’s what most people think about modifying a tool- that it will require machining. We recently completed a project where the customer requested a tool modification. It might come as a surprise to most, but our Catalysis 3D printed tooling technology allows the modification process to be much simpler & less expensive.

With our Catalysis 3D printed tooling technology, to modify the tool, we just printed an insert and post processed to the tool. Simple as that!

No welding, no machining was necessary & the modification was completed in just 2 days at a significant cost reduction for the customer.
If it was an aluminum tool, this request would require welding and machining- resulting in a much higher cost and take at least multiple weeks.
